Growing Up Fast

The little birdies are growing quickly! Yesterday they left the nest for the first time. They came back after dark to sleep and left again early this morning while I was out running. It’s neat to see them grow so fast!

Note to self…

Grow more beets in 2012. 🙂

Love it.

Good with cold stuff. Good with hot stuff. Gotta love it.

The garden behind the fence is planted. Thank you Dad for letting me borrow the tiller. That made a world of difference!

I planted on Friday, June 17th (albeit a bit late):

  • Early Golden Bantam Sweet Corn
  • Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans
  • Spaghetti Squash
  • Connecticut Field Pumpkin
  • Table Queen Squash
  • Charleston Grey Watermelon
  • Early Yellow Straightneck Squash
  • Mammoth Grey Striped Sunflowers
  • Dark Green Zuchinni Squash
  • Hale’s Best Canteloupe
  • and some Contender Bush Beans in one of the open spots in my raised bed

Here’s one of the first sprouts:

beet and radishes

A few days ago we discovered a dove in our hanging basket with a small light colored egg. Fast forward to today where we found not one, but two baby doves!

She is quite the mama, always snuggling her babies close. I have yet to see her leave the nest!
